ATV In The Mountain Of 7 Colors

Description:

The ATV tour to Rainbow Mountain offers a faster alternative to reach Vinicunca at 5200 m a.s.l. (17 060 ft). Instead of walking for 1 hour, you will ride an ATV for 20 to 30 minutes to a point near Rainbow Mountain. This ATV adventure is ideal for those looking for a Rainbow Mountain with a more exciting and different approach.

ITINERARY:

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 a. m. to continue through the South Valley. During the 2-hour trip, we will observe different landscapes until we reach Pitumarca, where we will have the buffet breakfast. Then we will continue through the district of Checacupe, known for its 3 bridges that represent different eras:

  • Inca Bridge: Built in 1448 with braided straw, it is part of the Qhapaq Ñan. Its creation is attributed to the Inca Wiracocha.
  • Colonial Bridge: Built in the 16th century with stone, it reflects the Spanish architecture of the period.
  • Republican Bridge: Its metal structure represents modern architecture.

After taking photos, we will head to our base in Ccairahuiri, where the guide will give us instructions on how to use the ATV (quad bike). Instead of walking uphill for 1 hour, you will ride 20 minutes on an all-terrain ATV until reaching the Rainbow Mountain in Vinicunca at 5036 m s. n. m. (16 522 ft).

Our guide will explain the mountain’s topography, ecosystem, and colors, which are the result of oxides from different minerals. The slopes show colors ranging from red, purple, green, pink, and yellow.

From this point, you will have a view of Apu Ausangate at 6384 m s. n. m. (20 945 ft), known as the «creator of the waters.» Its melting snow forms the Vilcanota River, which runs through the Urubamba Valley.

Once the visit is over, we will descend 20 minutes by ATV to the base to leave the vehicles and transfer to the restaurant to enjoy your lunch.

We will return to your hotel in Cusco at approximately 4:00 p. m., ending the tour.
