Detailed Itinerary

DAY 01

Cusco - Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu

Your Machu Picchu Full Day Tour by Train begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco, usually between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. We will travel through the Sacred Valley toward Ollantaytambo Train Station, where you will board the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo.

The train journey to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, is one of the highlights of the day. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the Urubamba River, towering Andean mountains, agricultural terraces, and lush cloud-forest vegetation as the landscape gradually changes on the way to Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will continue by shuttle bus along the mountain road to the entrance of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, located at approximately 2,430 meters (7,972 ft) above sea level.

Inside the archaeological site, enjoy an approximately 2 to 2½-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu with a professional local guide. During your visit, you will learn about the history, architecture, engineering, and spiritual significance of this remarkable Inca citadel while exploring the sectors included in your assigned route.

Whenever availability permits, we prioritize Circuit 2 – Route 2-A or Route 2-B, considered among the most complete routes for visiting Machu Picchu. If Circuit 2 is unavailable, we will arrange the best available alternative route and inform you of your assigned circuit before the visit.

After completing your Machu Picchu circuit, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Depending on your return train schedule, you will have free time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, walk around the town, shop for souvenirs, or relax before heading to the train station.

At the scheduled time, board your return train to Ollantaytambo and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sacred Valley once again. Upon arrival, our transportation will be waiting to take you back to Cusco, where we will drop you off at your hotel or designated location.

Your arrival time in Cusco will depend on the train schedule assigned to your reservation, bringing your unforgettable Machu Picchu by Train Full Day Tour to an end.

For travelers visiting in December, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible, as Circuit 2 is the most requested route and remaining spaces can sell out quickly.
